The 8 reasons why nobody is talking about your product
According to Seth Godin if people aren’t talking about your products, services or solutions, the reason is they are boring.
He is probably right in many cases.
Not boring
Still there can be a number of reasons why nobody is talking about your products or solutions:
1. Your marketing is inadequate: nobody knows about their existence.
2. Companies using it don’t want to let the public know about it.
3. Products that have been on the market since long. (That’s boring)
4. Your solution addresses a very specific problem, thus no wide interest. Hardly anybody understands the problem it solves.
5. Your company is located in the wrong part of the world. Some locations just get more attention.
6. Your company provides quality products, build upon proven technology: not following or being part of any hype.
7. Your company is into a slow moving business, not exactly the type of business people like to talk about. Still the solutions are top notch technology.
8. The entire market of similar products and solutions is boring: matured market.
Missing word of mouth
It is not always because nobody talks about your products or solutions that they are boring.
However if people would just talk about them you would get free brand awareness and much more interest. That’s a lot of word of mouth your company is missing.
Possible remedy:
If possible try to add on features or functions that make your products, solutions or services less boring. Make them stand out of the crowd to become remarkable. Give people something to talk about.
However at the same time: don’t spoil your product by making it more complex and less usefull by adding these functions or features.
