Video killed the content text writer star

From TV to video on the Internet
All people in business from the young starters to the decision makers and takers have all been raised and grown-up with the presence of TV.
They all have known TV during their entire life for entertainment, information and education. TV has now moved on from broadcast to the Internet with web video’s.
YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, Viddler, blip.tv, MeFeedia, HowCast have made video on the Internet evident and obvious.

People prefer to watch instead of reading
Only a minority of people reads books in their spare time. So why would they read while working ?
If they can choose between reading and watching a video, they will opt for the latter.
Even business decision makers will prefer to watch a video in order to have products or methods explained.

Just like video killed the radio star, it is now slowly killing the written text content on the Internet as video is available on the Internet too.
You will need to have video content on your website (like we do now)
The convenience and the ease of watching is preferred by all.

The power of video
- Video engages people more than text.
- Video convinces more as it combines visuals, spoken words and texts.
- Video shows how to instead of trying to explain.
- Video can use music, sounds and colors to influence your mood.

Creating text compared to video
Many people can write in order to explain your products or services.
Only a few people are capable of imagining, creating, producing and editing a video which informs and entertains the targeted audience.

Writing and publishing texts are feasible at a relatively low cost.
Creating and publishing a video has a much higher cost.

A badly made video will do more harm than a hard to read text.

Video search is a problem
One of the problems is search as the indexation of video’s still uses the tags and keywords attached to it by the publisher. Search engines use words instead of video content for their search algorithms.
People like and prefer video’s, but search engines don’t.

The change to video
Bloggers beware as you might have to become a Vlogger.
Marketers you will need to change your focus from text to video.
